Monologues of a Female NASCAR Fan with a touch of Hormonal Rants and Raves.
My crystal ball predictions are slowly but surely coming true. Women are starting to dominate the race world.
Last week Danica Patrick was the first woman to win in Indy car racing. This week its Ashley Force paving the way for women with her first win for a woman in Funny Car.
For those that don’t know Funny Car, because I admit, I didn’t know they called it that, it is drag racing.
Not only did Ashley Force become the first woman to win in a Funny Car, she took the points lead and surpassed her father for the record of amount of races it took for a win.
Post race, Ashley said, “Being a female, that’s exciting as far as the records and everything, but my team, we just wanted to get our first win. We went a whole year last year and got close a few times. To finally get it done, we’re just so excited.”
Go girl go!
I wonder what’s next for the wild wonderful world of women in racing?
I am very eclectic with my tastes in music. For the most part I like to listen to the same Top 40 radio station when I’m at work. I do however call my Monday’s “Country Day” because I tune into the local country station for their Monday show features. One is a feature for the local animal shelter which is a strong cause I believe in and the other is the NASCAR insider report by Lance McGrew.
Lance McGrew works for Hendrick Motorsports in the “speed” department as the DJ’s put it. I have seen Lance a few times while a race was airing, mostly during the Nationwide Series races. He will step in to crew chief some drivers when needed. I literally tune into this country station to listen to his recaps on Mondays.
I really like Lance’s personality. The DJ’s there actually call him the “Rumor mongrel” because if the DJ’s hear a rumor and they want to know the story behind it, they will ask Lance. Lance is fearless when it comes to answering these questions, which is what I love because no matter how bad people want to deny it, rumor’s spark curiosity in people and they always want to know more. So why bother hiding it?
I have to personally admit, I do not watch much race series past NASCAR, but for the empowerment of women everywhere I must report that we have a stronger hope for women in the racing world.
Danica Patrick won her first Indy race in the Japan 300 this past weekend. This is a first victory for a female in Indy Racing history. Now for a Spice Girls moment…
“GIRL POWER!”
I would love to see this girl dominate in the cup series. I love my NASCAR boys, but anytime there is a woman dominating a man’s sport and I can almost guarantee, men hate when that happens, and I sleep better at night knowing that women have one up on men! It’s honestly about time, and if we can have a woman running for president, we can have a woman racing in NASCAR with the big boys proving the old time saying that women can do anything a man can do.
